What the LegitScript Application Actually Asks For: 21+ Questions and a Stack of Spreadsheets

The LegitScript application is not a form you finish in an afternoon. It is more than twenty substantive questions, each expecting evidence, plus spreadsheets that have to agree with each other and with your live website. Most clinic denials come from files that are incomplete or inconsistent, not from bad businesses.

Key Highlights

  • The application covers ownership and entity, licensure, products and medications, clinical protocols, pharmacy and fulfillment, website and advertising, and privacy and data.
  • The spreadsheets are the hard part: every prescriber and license, every product, every pharmacy and every domain has to reconcile with the others and with the site.
  • Most clinic denials are incomplete, inconsistent or badly evidenced submissions rather than judgment calls about the business.
  • Certification does not guarantee ad approval, and nobody can guarantee approval of the application itself.

What Certification Is Reviewing

LegitScript's healthcare certification is a documented review of a clinic: who owns it, who prescribes, what is prescribed, how consultations are conducted, how patient data is stored, where medications come from and how the clinic advertises. Google and Meta use it as a gate for certain healthcare advertising, and a certified clinic appears in LegitScript's database with a certification ID that platforms can check. It is also renewed annually, with monitoring in between.

The Seven Things They Ask For

  • Ownership and entity: corporate records, beneficial owners, officers, related entities and any prior business names.
  • Licensure: a spreadsheet of every prescriber and clinician with license number, state and expiry, reconciled to the states you actually treat in.
  • Products and medications: a full product list with drug names, forms, strengths, sourcing and classification, matched line by line to your website.
  • Clinical protocols: intake, consultation, prescribing and follow-up procedures, written as reviewable policy.
  • Pharmacy and fulfillment: partner pharmacies and compounders, their licenses, and how orders are routed and shipped.
  • Website and advertising: every domain and landing page, claim language, disclosures, privacy and terms, and affiliate arrangements.
  • Privacy and data: how patient records are collected, stored and shared, and the policies that say so.

Why the Spreadsheets Sink Applications

Each spreadsheet is simple on its own. The difficulty is that they must agree. A product that appears on your website but not on the product list, a prescriber on the roster who is licensed in fewer states than the site implies, a pharmacy partner whose license has lapsed, or a landing page that makes a claim your protocols do not support are all the kind of inconsistency a reviewer notices and sends back. Each round trip adds time, which is why a complete, reconciled first submission matters more than speed.

How to Prepare

Start with an audit of your site, product list, prescriber roster and policies against LegitScript's published standards, and fix what would get you denied before you file: claim language, disclosures, privacy terms and protocol documents. Then draft every answer and build every spreadsheet together so they reconcile, respond to reviewer requests quickly, and keep the file current afterward, because certification is monitored continuously and new products, pages and campaigns can put it at risk.

What to Expect on Cost and Timing

LegitScript charges its own application and annual fees and does not publish a timeline. Managed certification services price their work separately. Ask any provider exactly what is included, who handles reviewer responses, and what happens at renewal, and be wary of anyone who promises approval or a fixed turnaround, because the decision is LegitScript's. Whether you need certification at all depends on how you prescribe, take payment and advertise, so confirm eligibility before you spend anything.

MedGrid MSO provides management services to independently owned practices; it does not practise medicine and does not direct clinical decisions. Requirements vary by state and by service, and change over time — nothing on this page is legal or medical advice. Talk to us or your own counsel before making a structural decision for your clinic.
